How APPG works

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Teaching Profession is an  informal cross-party group with officers from the Houses of Commons and Lords. It draws together many individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in its administration and activities.

The group meets 3 times a year at the Palace of Westminster (or via a Zoom meeting) to consider evidence relating to the Teaching Profession, enabling debate and discussion. It aims to provide practitioners and policy-makers with information to deepen understanding of the teaching profession.

Some themes of recent meetings have been School Improvement in Opportunity Areas, The Teaching Apprenticeship, Teacher Recruitment and Retention and Educational Excellence Everywhere. To suggest an area for discussion, please contact us via the contact form.
